Commercial Distillery Research
Pilot work on qualified premises with records, controls and approved activities.
Federal law prohibits producing distilled spirits at home. Beverage production requires prior TTB qualification of a Distilled Spirits Plant, plus applicable state and local approvals. Alcohol vapor, heat and pressure create severe fire and explosion hazards.
Define the product and premises
Pilot work on qualified premises with records, controls and approved activities. Write down what will be processed, what will be collected, who will use or buy it, where equipment will operate and which agency regulates the activity.
Keep uses separated
Water or botanical equipment should not be casually repurposed for alcohol production. Equipment capability does not create legal permission.
Product rules still apply
Water, cosmetics, fragrance, laboratory, industrial and fuel products can have their own sanitation, labeling, environmental, fire and business requirements.
Document the decision
Keep equipment labels, intended-use statement, permits, safety review, manuals and operating restrictions together.
Compare exact dimensions, materials, welds, fittings, included components, electrical requirements, shipping, seller evidence and return terms.
